So, I’m trying to budget exactly how much it will cost to get these wheels on my car.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
The problem is I can’t seem to figure out how any of these tire conversion charts work. So... if I currently have 195/ 65R15s and I’m switching to 17x7.5 wheels, what size tire will give me the closest to my current overall diameter?

215/50R17 is the closest for the optimal tire on a 7.5" rim. It’ll be 2% low, so at 60 MPH, your speedo will read 59 MPH.
here’s the best site ever for this stuff: www.willtheyfit.com
Correction, a 215/45R17 will be closer, but it’ll be 1.5% higher than it reads, so 60 MPH on the speedo will be 61 MPH in real life.

You can go 205/50R17, but they might look a little stretched.
You’ll still need to verify the offset, though.

check with your insurance company too.
some might not cover you if you don’t declare mods.

Could go 225/45R17, which is 0.03% speedometer error, and checking a few on Tire Rack , they recommend 7.5" wide wheels. So that’s what I’d recommend.
(That’s what Volkswagen did for a 17" option for the Mk4+ Golf typically...)

205/50r17 is your closest bet.

225 45/17. I run this size on a 17x7.5 wheel. It’s basically the exact same diameter and 1.2" wider. Make sure you get the correct offset so the wheel d oesn’t hit the suspension or poke out and look ridiculous. This is more important than tire sizing.

The offset is like 6mm narrower, so I figured I’ll get hub adapter rings that double as a 10mm spacer, or 5mm if I can find that. I know that the former exists, at least.
